Flavia Pozzolini is a lawyer specializing in administrative law. She is also Chair of the Board of Directors of a company that owns a 650 berth Marina in Tuscany. Flavia was President of Soroptimist International of Italy during the biennium 2011–2013. During her presidency, she led the Italian Union action in favor of women and minors' rights. Flavia organized, together with the Rwandese Union, paralegal courses on Land Tenure, helping to spread knowledge about women rights on land, in Rwanda. In Italy Flavia advocated for clubs to build special courtrooms in which children would be able to give testimony in a protected environment, adapted specifically for their age. During her biennium, Italian Clubs funded 56 of these protected courtrooms, which are now also used in cases of marital separation and violence against women. The project is ongoing, seeking to equip those courts still lacking in these dedicated rooms. Flavia deeply believes that Soroptimists have not only to advocate, but also to act closely with the public and with private Institutions.
