Talat Yasmeen Pasha is a social worker and a Soroptimist. She has worked to bring about a change in the lives of women at grass root level especially those that have lived all their lives in villages and in abject poverty. She holds a degree in Medicine and has used her profession to help the poor in rural areas as a Doctor, social worker and later in actively working on building filtration plants for safe drinking water, building schools for the children and providing light through solar energy. Thus she has worked hard to bring about a positive change in their lives. Women empowerment, poverty alleviation and Education for all have remained the focus of her work.
She joined Soroptimist International in 2004 and was made the Founder Gen Secretary. She held this post for three years and was elected as President of SI Karachi central three times, at the same time she was elected as FPAC for Pakistan for two terms. She was then elected as the APD for International Good will and understanding for the Federation of Sigbi and later became APD (Assistant Program Director) for Economic Empowerment. She was chosen as a Speaker for the Commission for the Status of women in New York and represented Soroptimism on that platform. Currently, she is a part of the Federation Management Board as a Director without Portfolio.
