Kate Brady Kean is a practicing Therapist and Senior Lecturer at Manukau Institute of Technology in Auckland, New Zealand. Her particular area of interest is Gender Equality. Kate has an extensive background in working with homelessness, drugs and alcohol, and rape crisis services, along with group and individual therapy. Kate trained at Liverpool and Nottingham University in the UK and AUT in Auckland. Her research was focused on Mental Health presentations of Women who have lived with Domestic Violence. More recently her research has been focused on Women in education and the importance of second chance learning. Kate is a member of SI Auckland. For the last three years she has attended the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN in New York as part of the Soroptimist International delegation where she has presented two papers on Gender equality.
