Prof. Dr. Nakiye Avdan Boyacıgiller is Dean of the School of Management at Sabancı University in Istanbul, Turkey. Born in the US and educated in Turkey, France and the US, her research on cross cultural management has appeared in leading academic journals and research compendiums. Boyacıgiller edited Crossing Cultures: Insights from Master Teachers (with R. Goodman and M. Phillips). In 2007 Boyacıgiller was elected a Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB) in recognition for her contributions to the development of the field of international business.
Prof. Dr. Boyacıgiller received her doctorate from the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, her MBA degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her BA degree from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey. In addition to Sabancı University, she has taught at San Jose State University, the Anderson School at UCLA, the Haas School at University of California, Berkeley, the Stockholm School of Economics, Institute of International Business, Bilkent University, and Boğaziçi University. She has received the San Jose State University College of Business Outstanding Undergraduate Professor Award (2001), the Ascendant Scholar Award from the Western Academy of Management (1994), and the Dean's Faculty Excellence Award (1989).
Prof. Dr. Boyacıgiller was the VP Programs for AIB (2002-04) and the International Management Division Chair of the Academy of Management (1996-97). She holds Advisory Board memberships at the Cyprus International Institute of Management, the European Advisory Council of the AACSB, the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey, the Istanbul Policy Center and Make a Wish Foundation, Turkey.
