Pat Black is a Past President of SIGBI Federation, having held many posts through all levels of Soroptimism. She is currently Assistant Programme Director, ECOSOC for SIGBI with a keen interest in the empowerment of Civil Society nationally and internationally especially in relation to the rights of women and girls. She has attended the UN Commission on the Status of Women, working with the UK NGO CSW Alliance and the UK Government on the text of Agreed Conclusions as well as contributing to shadow reports on CEDAW and the Beijing Platform for Action.
Pat has her own consultancy offering training and support for voluntary organizations on governance and the management of change. She has held posts on several charity Boards in the UK and is still active in Scotland. Pat's professional background is in education and training working across the whole spectrum. She has most recently worked in a rural Community Education Development Service with women returning to work; as Associate Tutor/Researcher, at Lancaster University in Management, she researched barriers to women's progress in the workplace. Pat has run a very successful Event Management business with her husband, plus a 'back room service' business supporting other organizations in a rural area.
